You know how I’m handling this?
By making everything you hear from me going forward be incredibly positive and proactive.
Yup, this is gonna be the one blog you will be looking forward to getting over the next few weeks or months.
Because, I’m thinking that’s what I need to hear, too, right now from someone, anyone!
What will make me feel calm? In control? Absolutely facing everything head on, and yet also optimistic and sure that I’m on the right track and doing the right things through this?
Is anybody in the news or government going to give me these kinds of feelings? I don’t think so.
They are all busy falling off the end of the earth. So I’m going to make these feelings happen for me, and you too if you want it. Read on, friends.

Right now my daughter is taking a practice ACT test up in her bedroom on this Sunday afternoon. We don’t even know if she’ll get to take the real test in April, or what this might do to her college applications if tests continue to be cancelled. Everything is in the air. Schools are closed for weeks, possibly months.
In a few minutes, I will be helping my son finally start his YouTube gaming channel (Hey, Sharkomite!). I will help my daughter study some more. I will be making lots of crockpot food (I have a stew going right now) since we committed as a family to self-isolate, not for ourselves, but because it feels like the right social responsibility.
And I will write to you.
Remember, you are incredibly flexible. You’re making all kinds of strange turns and adjustments right now, too. And that’s exactly how it should be.
Your parents or grandparents survived WW II and Vietnam. We all survived the collective panic and trauma of 9/11. And we rode out the stock market crash of ’08. Shit happens. How are you going to be through this round? Wrung out and retracted? Or calm, focused, and ready to step out as soon as the sirens stop? Be that person.

I’m seeing utter havoc online and in the emails from all the shops and places I normally go to. I’m not even opening them anymore.
I’m deleting every single email that has a subject like like, “We want to you know we’re taking COVID-19 seriously…”
As we’d say in my family, “No shit, Sherlock.” I know you are. To my dentist, grocery store, pharmacy, gym, skincare place, insurer, local theater, restaurant, coach, everyone…. I know you are. Five billion emails saying so aren’t going to change anything.
I’m onto the bigger picture: I am wondering what all this means, how long it will last, what each of us is going to do to weather it, and how this will change things for the next few years. I’m feeling like there has to be a counterweight to the deluge of fear and anxiety strangling us right now.
So that’s what I’m going to give, from here until this is over. One more time:
Every email you get from me will feel positive and uplifting. It will be a counterweight. It will remind you where you are still powerful, healthy, and clear.
So, look for this in the coming weeks.
I’m not being positive just to put on a happy face.
I’m doing this because what we feel is what we create, and big things don’t change this.
You can’t cherry-pick this idea and only apply it to the good times. You have to apply it to ALL times.
If nobody else is going to feel good, then I will. You with me?
There is A LOT we can do. I am constantly reminding myself that it’s never about what’s happening around you. It’s about how YOU are happening to it.
Next post: How I’m shifting to roll with this new reality (and some ideas for you, too!)
Until then, be safe and well my friends.
With lots of love, healing and health.
