It’s 1985. I’m on a beach, the cool salt-filled waves lustily lapping the shoreline.
The beach sand is flecked with gold, iridescent in the sunlight. Sometimes during the year, the beach is covered in black sand after the waves rush up carrying heavy loads of rich magnetite washed down from the Sierra Nevada mountains in California.
But today, the sand is its normal creamy gold and the waves are brilliant teal, edged with white.
Around me in a circle are five or six women sitting in boho dresses or jeans, their crazy white and gray-flecked “mom hair” licked by the breeze. To me, they are very old. I’m only 14. In reality, they’re in their 40s or 50s.
Each brought a gift to honor and acknowledge my passing from a girl to a woman. Think of it as like a quinceanera, or a bat mitzvah, but this kind is pagan. Each of these women practices the wiccan arts. They are a coven of sorts. I’m actually not sure how I found myself here—it’s something my mom set up. But I’m having a jolly good time. The ceremony commences with song, gifts, ritual, and stories.
I leave feeling euphoric, dappled with patchouli oil and clinging to spell bags filled with tiny treasures. This kind of thing doesn’t happen every day.
Years later, I will remember this event. Not knowing why or how it happened, but cherishing it like a pressed flower that I’d forgotten where it was picked.
My fascination with wicca lasted approximately five or six years. My mom is a Master Herbalist, so plant magic runs through my bones. My grandmother practiced and published books on tasseography (tea leaf reading), Healing Touch, and automatic writing among many other specialties. We also read minds and hearts, which is as natural to us as describing a garden out our kitchen window.
But back in the 80s, “magick” and “psychic stuff” was a much different beast than it is today. Most books and teachings were stuck on archaic ideas that parroted Christianity but with pagan language. It was all hierarchy, upside-down pentagrams, rules from the 1900s, and warnings. Which, by the time I was 20, I decided was all stupid and…boring.
I put down my studies for years. I let the seasons change, the decades billow by, as I turned to science, physics, and neuropsychology to explain the same strange skills the crones had celebrated with me so many years ago.
I wrote books. I explored flow, quantum theory, and the phenomena of speaking with consciousness wherever it may be, whether embodied or disembodied.
I did all the things that “witches” do, just without all the claptrap, dogma, fear, and rules.
I welcomed people into Flow—the rich ribbon of grace and love of universal consciousness—and I clarified for them where they presently were, where they were heading, and the best, easiest, most profitable path to follow forward.
To the world, I simply shared ways to communicate more precisely and powerfully with higher consciousness and “all that is.”
They call this “manifesting” today.
But to me, “manifesting” is simply creating new alignments, and that work is done both outside and inside you. But the inside comes first.
“The outer world mirrors your interior world” is my mantra.
So how can we impact your interior world?
Today, you can’t walk into a Barnes and Noble without being showered with books about witches, empaths, self-care, angels, intuition and healing. It is mainstream.
And, it has thankfully changed a lot in the last three decades.
Today’s magic still has its archaic holdouts and those who are stuck in swampy old thinking, but there are new shimmery paths of pure manifesting magick—the kind unburdened by manmade fear and dogma.
And this is what has caught my eye lately.
Spirituality and science are often saying the exact same things, just dressed up in different language:
Stones and gems contain energy.
Resins and plants contain energy.
Earth and clay contain energy.
Water and salt contain energy.
Space and air carry flow and connection.
The moon minutely sloshes the water in our very bodies as she ebbs and wanes.
The sun provokes our skin to metabolize vitamins and heal our wounds
Earth itself is alive, and each of us is a cell in her body.
A few weeks ago, I found myself purchasing a bag of witches runes. I would not have done this five years ago. I still believe that no “accouterments” are necessary for Divine communication and connection.
But they are fun.
And, they can be incredibly useful for directing intention and emotion, and for reminding us to ground into our physical beings.
After that, I picked up some fragrant resins to burn: dragon’s blood, frankincense, myrrh, and copal, which are all otherworldly names for simple sweet-scented dried resin from tree sap—just like maple syrup.
I already have an overabundance of crystals that keep me company in my home office.
My bundles of sage, cedar, and sweetgrass likewise surround me as I work.
All this because recently I began, inexplicably, to think about the power of ritual—the very thing I had discarded so long ago.
I began researching ways to add weight and heft to the Flowdreaming energy work I and my students already do. To ground it down and in as well as going “up and out” as I often say.
And this is when I began noticing that weird sensation of traveling back in time, like picking up a lost stitch in your knitting. All these years I’ve been reaching “up and out,” which is when you travel into Flow and create a connection with Source; this is your consciousness disembodied and free. And now, I’m finding myself rooting down and in as well—into ritual, into earth and fire, into the physical change of seasons and the waxing of the moon.
This strange pivot is coinciding with a turning point in my own life.
I’m no longer the girl in the center of the circle, ready to spread her wings to fly up into the sky of her future.
I am now the crone sitting around her, offering her herbs and stones, grounding her back into the earth, into the sea and sand, into her own body, which the years have made oh-so-much-more precious to me now that I’ve become aware of how easy it is to lose.
You don’t have to be a witch to move through these phases of your being.
You too have been or will be the maiden, the mother, and even the crone (or their masculine counterparts). Your shifts may have happened without ceremony. But you too have spent time moving up and out, and perhaps down and in as well.
I invite you to ground and down with me. I invite you to go up and out with me.
I invite you, mostly, to let yourself wander through the many themes and eras of your own life, and to allow yourself to go back and pick up forgotten things whenever the time feels right.
They are never the same the second time around.
You are never the same, either.
Thoughts? Where are you in this circle of life right now? Have you been feeling drawn to the earth and ritual? How have your feelings shifted over time about the “right” way to manifest or connect with Divine guidance or Flow? Leave me a note below!

P.S. My friends, I invite you on this journey with me!
Right now, I’m chatting with folks about working 1:1 together, either fast and furiously over the course of the summer, or deep and life-changing over the course of a year.
These are my private clients. You can be one.
Things I do with my 1:1 Flowdreaming clients:
- Record customized Flowdreams with you each and every session
- Do energy work and techniques to clear, move, or launch important things in your life
- Read the minds and hearts of those around you so you get clear, precise information
- Sketch a deeply satisfying direction and divine purpose for you to lean into
- Be given fun, stretchy homework to push the boundaries of your thinking
- Bust through blocks, unravel inner patterns, and leap over stuckness and scarcity
- Have accountability via 4 weekly touchpoints each month (plus my private text number)
Some of my clients’ primary focus is to rebuild their wealth or discover why they never have enough. This is a perfectly acceptable thing to work on. We build new avenues of income for you, get you hired where you’re happy and respected, or help launch your new business.
Other clients have become successful, with good jobs or businesses, but there’s still a road they’ve been hungering for (a side-hustle or purpose) that we discover how to build and integrate without losing time, family, or freedom.
Still others have played Plan B for too many decades—and now they’re materially comfortable but deeply restless and unsatisfied. They’re ready to move to Plan A.
Some of my clients have seen parts of their lives be sacrificed over the years, like their health, partnership, or inner potential. We heal and rebalance these.
Some of my clients have very specific goals, such as to meet a life-partner, have a successful IVF, be hired by their dream company or be cast into a leading role. We send energy into these and create an energy blueprint for them where none existed before.
Is this you?
If so, the time is ripe to reach out. Just fill in this form and I’ll get back to you. I can’t wait to meet you and go on this journey together!
Yes! The scientific is beginning to wink at the esoteric, one day it will realize it is one side of the same coin. https://phys.org/news/2024-04-internet-quantum.html
This year, this season of life, is a metamorphosis. I can totally feel the impacts of the Lunar, Mercury, and Solar activity. I can feel the energy of the day & the night as sensations I haven’t felt before. There is a difference… something in the air, if you will…
